The string length is tripled when you read data with SAS/ACCESS Interface to SAP IQ. This issue happens when you run SAS with multi-byte encoding (such as UTF-8) and the SAP IQ database encoding is single-byte (such as Latin1).

The hot fix includes support for the LIBNAME options DBSERVER_MAX_BYTES and DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES to SAS/ACCESS Interface to SAP IQ to enable you to control the length calculations:
DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES: Specifies the maximum number of bytes per single character in the database client encoding, which matches SAS encoding.
Default: 1
DBSERVER_MAX_BYTES: Specifies the maximum number of bytes per single character in the database server encoding.
